The student will…

…Be able to make a differential diagnosis for a patient complaining of painful pinch and gripping.

…Be able to ask the patient appropriate historical questions for the chief complaint of "pain with pinching and grasp."

…Know and be able to perform physical exam maneuvers needed for all components of the differential diagnosis for Patient #3.

…Be able to order proper ancillary tests and appropriately evaluate the test results to confirm or rule out thumb CMC joint osteoarthritis, gamekeeper's thumb, trigger thumb, and congenital trigger thumb.

…Be able to construct and prioritize a treatment plan containing all appropriate therapeutic options for thumb CMC joint osteoarthritis, gamekeeper's thumb, trigger thumb, and congenital trigger thumb.

…Be able to define thumb CMC joint osteoarthritis, gamekeeper's thumb, trigger thumb, and congenital trigger thumb and identify pertinent related anatomy, pathogenic factors, the incidence and related conditions associated with each of these diagnoses.
