The student will…
…Be able to make a differential diagnosis for a patient complaining of numb fingers with painful tingling.
…Be able to ask the patient appropriate historical questions for the chief complaint of "numb fingers."
…Know and be able to perform physical exam maneuvers needed for all components of the differential diagnosis for Patient #1.
…Be able to order the proper ancillary tests and appropriately evaluate the test results to confirm or rule out carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and/or cervical radiculopathy.
…Be able to construct and prioritize a treatment plan containing all appropriate therapeutic options for carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and/or cervical radiculopathy.
…Be able to define carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and/or cervical radiculopathy and identify pertinent related anatomy, pathogenic factors, the incidence and related conditions associated with each of these diagnoses.
